Spotifys iPhone application approved?

I’ve just heard from a source close to Apple that The Spotify iPhone app has been approved. It’s just going through the final publication processes & will be available to download from Next week.

Am I the only one who remains a bit skeptical about Spotifys iPhone app until I can see it in the appstore?

Remember that google voice got rejected for replacing original iPhone functionality, namely phone, sms and voicemail.

What is the real difference between the GV- and Spotifyapp?

IF the spotify app gets approved it's enough for me to draw the conclusion that AT&T was responsible for pulling GV. Apple has a major competitor in music distribution in Spotify whereas they had no conflicting interests in GV, I will not be surprised if Apple requires a different compensation package Spotifys application vs the rest of the apps in the appstore.

What are your thoughts on the subject?

@the_real_techy Personally I think you are right. Why should Apple approve this app that is a direct competitor to iTunes & their own business?

Google Voice is a competitor to AT&T, spotify only competes with iTunes. While that could incur a Loss, the potential loss in hardware sales from competitors like android providimg spotify mobile might be greater.

On the other hand, they approved the Skype app, which could be argued to compete with basic functinality of the iPhone...
